A six-month, multi-plant Oracle E-Business Suite implementation connected finance and supply chain, improving inventory visibility, purchasing speed and cost control.

Client: An anonymized mid-size automotive components manufacturer
Scope: Multiple plants on a unified Oracle E-Business Suite platform
Modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Inventory, Purchasing, Order Management, Bills of Material, Work in Process and Cost Management
Integrations: Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and banking systems
Timeline: Six months to go-live, followed by eight weeks of dedicated hypercare

The challenge

The manufacturer was running its plants on disconnected systems and spreadsheets. Teams lacked a shared, timely view of materials and costs, making it difficult to coordinate procurement, production and finance.

  • No real-time inventory visibility across plants.
  • Manual purchase approvals delayed production.
  • Month-end close took more than 15 days.
  • Product costing was inaccurate, leaving margins unclear.
  • Excess stock existed alongside frequent material shortages.

The company needed a single manufacturing ERP solution to control costs, coordinate operations and support growth.

The solution

We implemented Oracle E-Business Suite across all plants, bringing core finance and supply-chain processes onto one platform. Finance covered General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management. Supply chain and manufacturing covered Inventory, Purchasing, Order Management, Bills of Material, Work in Process and Cost Management.

Our implementation approach: live in six months

We followed a structured, Oracle AIM/OUM-aligned methodology to reduce risk, keep customization to a minimum and prepare the business for go-live.

01

Discovery and process study

Mapped current procurement, production, inventory and finance processes across plants to establish scope and pain points.

02

Solution design and gap analysis

Completed fit-gap analysis and designed target processes, including the chart of accounts and organization structure.

03

Configuration and extensions

Configured modules, approval workflows and costing methods, and built required reports and MES and banking integrations.

04

Data migration

Cleansed and migrated item masters, suppliers, customers, opening balances and open orders through multiple mock loads.

05

End-to-end testing

System and user acceptance testing validated Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash and Plan-to-Produce cycles.

06

Training and change management

Role-based training and super-user enablement supported readiness and user adoption.

07

Go-live and hypercare

A phased cutover and eight weeks of dedicated support delivered zero production downtime.

08

Support and optimization

Ongoing application management services and performance tuning continue to add value after launch.

Business results

Metric Before After
Financial close 15+ days 5–6 days
Inventory carrying cost High, with stockouts Approximately 25% lower
Procure-to-pay cycle Manual and delayed Approximately 40% faster
